Chris Carrillo, Trumpet Chris holds a Master’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin, a Bachelor’s degree from The University of Memphis and did additional studies in performance at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland. He currently performs as principal trumpet with the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble and has toured throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom in various chamber music and commercial settings. As an orchestral musician, Chris has performed with the Jacksonville and Victoria Symphonies as well as the Abilene Philharmonic, Opera Memphis, and Austin Lyric Opera. As a commercial musician, he has recorded several jingles for radio and television and performed as a local musician for the Broadway touring productions of Carousel, West Side Story, A Chorus Line, and Gypsy. He has performed with such varied artists as Marvin Hamlisch, Chuck Mangione, Toni Tenille, John Pizzarelli, and Bob Brookmeyer, and spent two years performing shows in a house band in the casinos of Tunica, Mississippi. Chris is a former member of the Disney College Orchestra and an alumnus of the Festival Institute at Round Top. Currently, he is a teaching assistant at The University of Texas where he is completing a Doctorate under the guidance of Ray Sasaki.
